Happy Valentine’s Day Thursday!

Valentine’s Day is super overrated. I mean, really. Shouldn’t you celebrate your love for someone EVERY day, not just one day of the year?

The current dinner theater show I’m in has this line that really sticks out to me every time its said, and it seems to fit today.

“Why is it that pickles are commemorated for a whole week, and Dads only get one day?”

Same applies today. Why DO pickles get commemorated for a whole week, but love only gets one day a year? That’s dumb.

I’ve never had a valentine. Ok, I had 26 today. But they’re 6 and 7 years old. I’ve never had a romantic Valentine. That’s also dumb. But whatever.

So…I hope you had a good THURSDAY and I hope you told EVERYONE you love how much you love them and that you love them every day, not just today.

Well….hello again.

I suck, I know. But, I’m baaaaaaack!

Life has been crazy busy with school, work, working out, and a show I’m in. So it’s been hard to blog. But I’m back now and life has reached a small lull. I feel less busy and am preparing to go to Australia. Which by the way, I BOUGHT MY TICKETS!!

It’s sad…but I really don’t have much to blog about. I don’t do anything except go to school, go to work, work out, and go home late at night. My friends and I went to New Albany again a few weeks ago. That was super fun!

I’m seriously so blessed to know all of these fantastic women and their equally awesome spouses. It really is like they are my second family! Gosh. I’m getting all emotional! But seriously, I love them!❤

Sunday was my birthday. I’m 23 now. What?! It doesn’t seem like that is possible. We went out Saturday night. It was amazing. Here’s some pictures.

There’s those girls again! We stopped by the Box between dinner and Bubba’s to say hi since they were in there working and making the Box look awesome!

On Saturday morning, I started my day off with a little Angie. Kacie (in the purple jacket above), Tiff (in the gold dress from the Cancer Dance), and I were a team. We each did 100 pull-ups, 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 (I only got 55 in before time was up, but finished my 100 after the workout) in 40 minutes. Whoa. AND!!! We each won a free spray tan (yep! The box is spraying now!)!!! Woooooo hooo!! I love team WODs!!!

That’s seriously been my life lately. My ankle is healing. I’ve been doing physical therapy for 2 weeks and it’s helped tremendously. I have my final session Friday.

I’m sorry I’ve been gone. But I’m back :)

Inspiration Needed

Hey. I suck, I know. I’m sorry. I’ve majorly been slacking. But honestly, I haven’t felt like blogging. I haven’t really done much. I can’t do much. Last week I didn’t really do anything. This week, Monday and Tuesday were basically non-stop. Today I’ve done nothing but sleep and elevate my ankle.

But, tonight I feel like blogging. I feel really, really down tonight. I stood in the bathroom for 20 minutes while I was getting ready for bed and just cried. Like ugly, sobbing cry. And I really don’t know why I was crying. It just came over me and I couldn’t stop. I’ve felt pretty sucky today because I just feel lazy anymore. I’m still on crutches and still have an air cast and it pisses me off. But I need to get over it, because I’m probably going to have both for a while. Whatever.

I started going back to the gym Monday. It hasn’t felt the same. At all. Monday I didn’t really work out. I warmed up a little with the rest of the class then did like 20 shoulder presses by myself while the rest of the class did the WOD for that day. And that was it. Woo. Yesterday I went during open gym and straight-legged rowed because I can’t regular row. And then worked on bench press and did a 21-15-9 of handstand push-ups on a bench, tricep dips, and push-ups. Then a little ab work. My heart rate got up and I felt like I was actually getting a somewhat good workout, but it just wasn’t the same. I can’t push-press, I can’t clean or snatch, I can’t do any kind of squat, and I can’t deadlift. And it freaking sucks. Hopefully I can find some good upper body workouts online or my coaches can give me some kind of guidance. Because it’s been a week and a half and I’m over it.

I need some motivation and inspiration in my life right now. And I need to get back to super clean eating so that I can have some kind of success with this injury instead of the constant feeling of disappointment I’ve felt so far. I’ve lost 3 pounds, but I know I can do better. I still need to lose some major weight before I leave for Australia, but I’ve slacked off and suck. So…here’s to completely changing my life since it’s changed a lot lately.

Sorry for being sappy, pissy, negative Haley. But that’s just how I feel right now and this has been a really good release for me instead of keeping everything inside like I usually do.

So, if you read this, some prayers and thoughts would be appreciated. And some motivation/inspiration and upper body exercises would be welcomed in the comments or in a message on Facebook, if we’re friends. I love you all.

I’m slackin’!

Hey, y’all! Soooo….I’ve been slackin’! I know, I know! I really haven’t had much to blog about. All I’ve been doing is laying down with my ankle up most of the time and watching ridiculous tv or sleeping. Wooooooooooooo exciting life!

I sang the National Anthem last night at the IUPUC Men’s Basketball game. It was so much fun and I felt like it was the best I’ve ever done! My momma went with me and then we went to dinner. Then I decided to be a party animal and went to my friend’s house to watch a marathon of Downtown Abbey. Love that show! That’s literally all I’ve done. Worked for a while today.

Just another bump in the road…

Well…I haven’t blogged for a few days. I’m sorry! I’ve been a little busy.

So as I said in my post on Monday, I hurt myself. I went to the doctor on Tuesday, my family doctor, and was told I fractured my talus bone. I waited until today to see an orthopedic doctor today, who is awesome by the way, and yeah. I have a very, very minute fracture on the talus bone, 3 torn ligaments, and a Grade 2 sprained ankle. I asked him what the highest grade sprain there was, and he said that Grade 3 is right before a dislocation. So, my sprain is pretty bad.

I will have to wear an air cast for a while and use crutches to get around. It will take longer than a fracture to heal. For now I am just supposed to work my foot back in to a shoe with the air cast and do exercises to get the range of motion back and to keep my Achilles from getting stiff. He said that I will know when I can bear weight on it again. I have no definitive timeline of when I will be healed. A while.

But….it’s better than a break or bad fracture :) I’m not too bummed about it. I’m not going to let it get me down!! I went and sat at the gym for a while and watched. Hopefully on Monday I can go back in and start working on upper body stuff.

Overall, it wasn’t a terrible two or three days. I’m just bored. The pain is better. And…I GOT NEW CRUTCHES! YEAAAAHHHH! hahaha

Monday, we meet again.

Hey there. Today is a sad day. I fell off a box at the gym doing a pistol step up. And sprained my ankle really bad. I’m upset. Not because I hurt myself, but because I can’t work our for a bit now. Ugh. This came as soon as I had a ton of new motivation. And I was going to start going to Open Gym tomorrow. Not now. It hurts to walk. It hurts to move. But I really am pretty sure its only a sprain. I hope so. And I hope it heals soon. This sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks.

We’ve been working on progressions to that and we were stepping up on to boxes. It was difficult, but kind of fun. My form was not great. I was having trouble fully standing up. Wellll on round 1 of 5 I mis-stepped and came crashing down off a 20″ box. Rolled on my ankle. Started screaming like an idiot. But I was freaked out. Everyone thought I hit my head on a kettlebell. Nope. Just kind of landed softly on it after catching myself with my shoulder. Ugh. Guys. This bites. How am I not going to work out for a few days?? I’m just hoping the rest of this week. And I’m hoping to be able to go ride a stationary bike or something just to get my blood pumping. I could cry all over again about this.

I was crying when it happened. From pain. But mostly because I was pissed I couldn’t finish my workout. Bleh.

In some happy news, class started today. It was really fun even though it’s a long class. We will get to talk about hot topics in education over the next 8 weeks and really delve deep in to them. I’m excited!

And my awesome student teaching partner gave me a Christmas gift today.

I LOVE IT! I can’t wait to take it on the plane with me and have it with me in Australia! Soooo awesome!!

I start field tomorrow in a kindergarten classroom. Yay! My favorite age. I cannot wait to see their little faces! :)

So Blessed.

Friends! Hello! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Today was awesome! I worked the morning shift at work and heard the best sermon I think I have ever heard in my life by the head pastor at my church. It gave me chills! This is another reason I love my job. If I can’t make it to church, I can just listen to the service at work!

After work I came home and relaxed with my family. I’ve been taking practice Praxis tests. Praxis is the test I have to take and pass to get my Indiana teaching license. It’s basically a standardized test. I bombed the Social Studies portion. It was kind of fun asking my grandparents some of the questions for me. Too bad I can’t take them to the test center with me! But..I shall study until it is time for me to take the test!

Around 4 I got ready and headed to the Box. We had a Sunday Funday! We usually don’t have WODs on Sundays, but we did today. There were only 6 of us, plus one of the member’s sons that ended up working out with us. RaeAnn just finished a Holiday Hustlers session with two different age groups of kids. He had done Holiday Hustlers, so he worked out with us. He busted it out!

WHOA! It was awesome!!! And GO COLIN!!! Instead of ring dips he did squats and he ROCKED IT! We all did the same thing for ring dips, jumping up and holding ourselves there for 3 seconds. That was 1 rep. I can’t hold myself up for 3 seconds yet, but I got to work on it! Rae gave me some stuff to do to work on that strength I need to hold myself up. So, I’m going to do it in Open Gym.

Speaking of Open Gym, I ended up making a New Years goal. I don’t know if I have mentioned it yet or not, but I will be going to Open Gym at least 3 times a week to work on my technique with EVERYTHING. I’m tired of finishing last! My times are improving, but so are everyone else’s and it’s time to join the big leagues! So, that is what I will be starting this week! Yay!

After the WOD, 4 of us went and had sushi and talked. It was delicious. And we had so much fun just hanging out and talking! I love them!

I’ve just been hanging out at home tonight getting ready for class to start again tomorrow. Boo! But, I feel so blessed tonight. Just for everything. I have an awesome life. And I am so thankful for it. And all of you :)

New Albany Adventures

Hey! I’m super late posting this, and it’s technically Sunday already, but I just got home.

It was a pretty chill day again. I slept in, worked, came home and hung out with Mom (who is feeling better), and then went to New Albany with some friends. We were supposed to see a band called the Tune Smiths, but something ended up happening with them and they weren’t there. Sooooo….we hung out at this Irish Pub. I’ve never seen so many dreadlocks in my life! It was actually a pretty cool place. Then a friend met up with us and we went to a pizza restaurant for a late dinner. It was also a lot of fun! Even though we didn’t get to see the band we went to see, it ended up being a really great night with friends!

I didn’t work out today, as you can tell. I was going to run, but didn’t. I’m excited for tomorrow (today)! We are having a Sunday WOD, which we usually don’t have, and then all going to dinner after! I’m really excited for this! It will be nice to spend time with my CF family outside of the Box!

So when I first created this blog, I said I would do some outfits of the day. So….here’s my first! I’m kind of sad the full body shot is so blurry. And excuse the toilet, I thought the bathroom was really cool and didn’t realize it was in the picture! Another side note..I wish I wasn’t in between sizes right now. My jeggings are new and are already too big on me :( I know it’s a good thing, but it sucks that they’re slouchy on my legs already and I got them for Christmas. Here ya go!

Finally Friday

Hola. I don’t really have much to blog about today. I haven’t really done much and it’s been rather blah. I worked out, worked, ate sushi, and worked. I’m still at work right now. All of the late nights I’ve had this week are catching up with me and I’m SO tired. I can’t wait to go home and go to bed! Hopefully I will be able to fall asleep early and wake up feeling refreshed tomorrow.

As usual, our workout was awesome. We Tabata’d baby!

I have to work on my air squats! But…we’ve done tabata squats 3 days in a row, so I think my legs were just tired today. But, I still need to work on my squats.

Like I said, not much to post about today. Mom is finally starting to feel better. I’m going home soon to hang out with her for a few minutes then I’m hitting the sheets!

I ❤ break

Howdy! I’m currently at work. Go Lady Owls! (Did I really just say that??? I’m a Brave!) the third quarter is almost over and they are winning against Columbus East! Have I mentioned how much I love my job? Because I do. So thankful for it!

Today has been a pretty chill day. I got to sleep in a little. That’s always nice. Went to the nooner WOD. It rocked, as usual. I seriously work out with the best people ever and have the best coaches ever. It was so nice to see some faces I haven’t seen at the gym in a while! We did our usual warmups with jump roping, stretching, and some tabatas! We did a squat and push-up Tabata. The squat one was rough! My legs were tight from last night still. But it’s all worth it! Then we set up to WOD! It was a good one, as usual! Here it is:

Yes!!!! My goal was to get under 15 minutes, and I had to bust out my last set of snatches to get there. There were a lot of people in the WOD and we didn’t have enough bars, so we staggered. Half started with snatches and half started with deadlifts. My half started with deadlifts, so I finished with snatches. I did 155# deadlifts. Can’t do body weight yet. But, my body weight keeps going down, so I’ll be able to soon! ;) And, I really like that we’re working on ground to overhead lifts so much right now. It’s a newer move to me, and I feel like I’m improving with it every time! I ❤ my gym!

I ran some errands after the gym. Usually I don’t mind it, but I have been driving my Mom’s car this week. Mine is broken. The gas pedal won’t move. I warmed the car up for like 30 minutes the other day (because I forgot it I had it running. Ha!) and got it to work, but the pedal still stuck some. It’s been sticking a little here and there for a bit but I never really thought anything about it. When I was driving home on New Years Eve, it completely locked up when I was waiting at a stoplight to turn on the highway. Luckily I was able to roll into a parking lot right off the highway and stop for a minute to get it to work. Luckily I got home, and my car has just kind of been sitting there. I should probably warm it up tomorrow and take it somewhere to get looked at since classes start back up soon. I really don’t like driving my Mom’s car. It’s tiny and I’m tall. I can barely see out of the rear view mirror because I can’t get it up high enough. Ha! I look like a giant driving in it. But, I’m thankful to be able to drive it.

Speaking of my Mom, she’s still really sick. Not really feeling better at all. She thinks that she’s less wheezy, but I don’t agree with that. Hopefully with all of the rest she’s gotten today, she can start to feel a little bit better tomorrow. These are the moments when I get nervous about traveling overseas for 3 months. I know it’s out of my control, but I like being there when anyone in my family or my close friends are sick or hurt. What if something happens when I’m gone? I guess there’s nothing I can really do about it other than pray that nothing does happen. For people that have traveled overseas, how did you deal with this?

On a different note….I wanted to mention this awesome meal I had for lunch today. My dad is a health nut like me and he got me hooked on Amy’s Kitchen products. They make vegan burritos and meals. Some do have dairy in them, though. I finally found some burritos and meals at our stores, and I had the Tortilla casserole with black beans today. I know it’s not strict Paleo, but I could read all of the ingredients, they were healthy, and it was gluten-free. And it was DELICIOUS! If you want something easy you can just warm up and it relatively healthy for you, I highly recommend the burritos or meals!

Another exciting thing I found out today is that I get the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the IUPUC basketball game next Friday! Oh my goodness!!! So exciting! I love singing the National Anthem. It’s one of my favorite songs to perform. So patriotic, I know! I’m so excited and will hopefully get to spend the evening having some fun in Columbus after the game! I miss my Columbus friends!

That’s really all I’ve done today. It’s been relaxing. I’m a little sad that break is almost over, but I’m ready to get back to school and teaching, and Australia! I’m buying my plane tickets in the next 2 weeks. Tips? Advice? Best site to use??

It took me the whole 2nd half of the game to type this up, and Seymour lost in overtime :( but they played hard and didn’t lose by much! Nice job, ladies! My co-worker, Curt, also came in to drop off some equipment. It was nice seeing him and talking to him! He rocks! I have the best co-workers!
